Millions of Filipinos flocks in Manila every January 9 to celebrate The Feast of the Black Nazarene.
This annual event showcase devotees from all over the country. They religiously walk long distances barefooted to join the procession. All of these just to catch a glimpse of the religious figure of the Black Nazarene.
Many believed that the Black Nazarene miraculously grant wishes and answer prayers. The feast not only became popular to the common public. Over the years, several; religious celebrities also takes part of practice to show their devotion and beliefs to the miraculous figure.
Actor and director Coco Martin thanked the Black Nazarene for the blessings he received through his post on social media.
On Instagram this Thursday, Coco shared a picture of her in church and praying.
“Walang hanggang pasasalamat po sa Poong Jesus Nazareno sa lubos na biyaya, pagmamahal at paggabay sa akin at sa aking buong pamilya. Higit pa sa aking hiniling noon ang binigay niyo sa akin ngayon. Maraming maraming salamat po, Ama Jesus Nazareno,”
Coco is one of the artists known for their devotion to the Nazarene. He fondly remembers that her devotion to the Black Nazarene began with her grandmother always taking her to Quiapo Church.
Interestingly, despite of his years in participation It was only in 2007 when he first got the chance to touch the blessed image while shooting the indie film “Tirador.”
In a previous interview with Coco, he mentioned that he was not famous enough that he had been in Nazareth and had been with Traslacion almost every year.
According to the actor, in Nazarene he prays for requests and trials. The actor also believes that his career in showbiz was the answer to his earlier prayers in Nazarene.
“Mula noong araw na ‘yun hanggang ngayon, ‘yung blessing na dumadating sa akin, alam ko nanggaling doon kasi ‘yun ‘yung hiniling ko eh,” he said.
“Siguro sa 10 hiniling ko, 15 ‘yung binigay niya sa akin. Sobra-sobra pa,”
